Ethics or the "E" Factor as i like to call it .. is unique in every individual. There is no real guidelines around which an individual lays the grounds for Ethics he or she follows..

The Foundation of an Individuals ethics is generally laid by his or her family in the early days .. School education and friends in the years follow and finally college and an individuals every changing perception over the years based on experience..

Society as we know it generally showers respect and admiration over an individual for the most part based on his or her deeds or accomplishments..

i don't know if ethics are the driving force behind deeds or accomplishments .. but i do know ethics define a person as a whole ...

Sails of Expectations

Everyone's in some boat or the other ...Life is the wind... Carrying us along over a sail of Expectations

A father expects from a son .. a son from a father

A Wife from her Husband ... a Husband from a wife

A teacher from a student .. a student from a teacher

Besides our expectations of individuals around us.. There are expectations we have from everything we do or everything that brushes by ones life...

In a world filled with expecations ... it wouldn't surprise me if it was the root cause of sorrow and complications that surround each one of us in our every day life ... But at the same time could be the driving force to bring joy and happiness... when fulfilled

Can't live with it ... Can't Live without it ... :)

I meet people everyday some new ... some i have known since donkey's years.. Each one of them is different in their own special way ... But yet their bar of expectations is set way up there with the stars .. sometimes its difficult to gauge how far up it goes ... Only if we all came a notch down and say set our expectations till the moon ... Wouldn't it make everyone's life alot easier ..and maybe less complicated

if i could ... i would ... if i can't .. hey thats all the apples i carry in my basket :)

Ignorance...

A fools means to live everyday life ...

A blessing in disguise if used in appropriate situations or junctures of life ...

Such is Ignorance...

Thankfully i have been blessed to differentiate between the two. There are no finite boundaries to Human Stupidity and ignorance for the most part acts as a catalyst. Have come across many such specimens in my lifetime and sometimes i fall short of words to describe such individuals... But none the less besides observing the application of ignorance in their everyday life ... i may have missed their individual special qualities....

Call it My ignorance ? Sure

When one applies ignorance in everyday life ... I don't know about most .. But i'd term them a fool Even if you do know the particular individuals special qualities... at the end of the day it won't change the fact that the individual is a fool ... Not being judgmental here... But i do believe time is a valuable asset in a life that passes us by the second

So far i have come across tons of individuals ... Some i have come to like .. Some i have come to dislike... I find it very difficult to carry the weight of hatred towards an individual in my everyday life.. Its baggage that i always leave behind in the pages that write the history of my life ...

Ignorance in this case is bliss

If you don't like anything or anyone ... Don't hate .. Just work your way around it :)

Does he or she get rewarded by life in any way...But a wise man once told me do good even though there are no rewards ....when a life time filled with good deeds passes you by.. Look back at it... A feeling of self satisfactory contentment shall come by .... and when you close your eyes for the last time a lite heart is a better option then a heavy one..

Toxic Humanity

A rather crude title to this thought ..... No i don't have a bad taste in my mouth after having a slice of this pie we call life ... Just a realist .. By Nature Its funny but physical violence these days seems to be the basis of all authority... This evening i heard about a shooting in a delhi school ... it doesn't seem to surprise me anymore the human race in general has taken a nose dive right into the pits... This thought has flown by my head every time some one has spoken to be about the holy bible .. the Quran or the books interpreting Nostradamus's predictions ... Besides Nostradamus .. the other books speak briefly of judgment day... But all of them speak about the end of the world... Honestly i have no clue if these prophecies are true . But they do make me think at times ...

Out of all of Nostradamus's predictions which were deciphered by people over the years. The one that drew most attention was an indirect pointer towards a reign of terror which would signal the end of the world. Historians related that prediction to Hitlers reign.. But till date no one has every been able to interpret Nostradamus's writings without being contradicted by the words itself ... :)

Getting to the bible ...

No i have not read it ... Nor am i Religious ..

But i did brush thru a few pages while i was in vegas..

Why i was reading the bible in hotel room in vegas well thats a different story all together .. :)

Curious to try and make sense of the 20 known prophecies which many say the bible points towards.

Never read the Quran ... But i do remember while i was in bangalore for a year ... a friend of my brother interpreting the pages that mentioned about "Qayamat" (Judgment Day) in Urdu ..

So what is this obsession with the human race to seek its end in ancient writings ? i have no clue what so ever
Although an intriguing topic to explore .. But i much rather spend my time thinking how to live .. rather then how to die ... But its a strange world and there are no curbs on where the human imagination takes us..

I walk out of the same door every day .. into the city day in and day out. Every nook and corner i see so much filth .. the kind that puts the word humanity to shame.. The way our race is going i'll be surprised if 5 generations down the line an 18 year old would have an attention span more then a nano second :)

It was funny this evening riding in that rickshaw headed out to santacruz to pick up my ride .. An Ambulance passed us by .. suddenly i see the rickshaw honking and trying to tail it.. we cut thru the traffic. As i got down of the rick i asked the guy .. did you know you were chasing death ? Someone was dieing in there .. At least don' t try and take that to your advantage... He looked at me and said considering the street traffic he wouldn't mind using someones misery to his advantage.. i smiled at him and walked away ..

As i crossed the street a thought struck me ... The End of the world doesn't necessarily mean there has to be death and destruction all around us.. Maybe its just a silent end that will get the better of us in the near future

Best of both worlds

Everyone knows the grass is green on the other side ... Yea well its green on both sides its just that we tend to oversee the lush patch we stand on ...

Most people i know wish they had the best both both worlds .. i wished the same for a long time until recently

Its funny ordeal the past three years while i was in new york i wished i was back home in mumbai. Playing with my dog... getting wet in the rains .. hanging out with old buddies .. The NY Rat race got to my nerves . its a world too material for me to live in ...I had some great times there .. Made some great friends and have a bag full of memories i'd cherish for the rest of my life... But something was missing..

About 9 Months back i got offered a transfer back home.. Felt like i hit the jack pot. 3 months in mumbai and 1 in new york.. get paid the same amount. i figured i'd move back and get a feel of mumbai again.. if it works out i'd stay back for good if not i'd pack my bags and move back to NY.

At first everything seemed fun ... canceled my lease .. gifted out my media center .. and furniture .. packed my bags and got home.. took me a few months to settle down back here with stuff ..with the constant traveling .. Work was rather chilled out .. Only took a few hours of my time. Considering my professional background it was childs play..Met tons of old friends had some great times ... Ah home cooked food finally .. But something was missing ....

Why ? Well i had the best of both worlds ..Have everything i have ever wanted ..well not everything but almost everything besides a good woman ... and a Enzo :)

Women anyways never a concern ... always been in and out of relations .. really long relations now that i look back at them ..

But an Enzo i want :) Anyways getting my wandering thoughts to ground zero

i took a sabbatical for a few months from work n things around in general to figure out .. Even delayed my long due trip to ny...what was really missing..

Couldn't figure it out

I am headed back to NY in jan for a month and i am dieing to get there ... its winter yipeee ... boy i miss the snow and the sub way rush .. the morning coffee from the deli ... and the sandwiches shane made for me every morning ... Ummm um ummm

So what was really missing ... Heart ? Well Maybe ... Maybe Not .. if you ask me i couldn't get my heart anywhere but a snow covered peak near a lake ... with a nice log cabin .. Maybe i am pushing my luck too much :)

I already have the best of both worlds and now i am putting my heart in a 3rd one ...

The path to seek more then you have is a never ending journey ...Each one of us walks that path every second of our lives ..

The path maybe never ending .. but our lives have to end at some juncture ..some earlier then most ... its difficult to find contentment and stick to it for a long time .. Envy .. Well thats just a part of humanity ... One is always looking at the other and wishing

The bottom line is ... You can always keep craving for what you don't have ... But one definitely needs to find contentment in what he or she holds... Even if you had the best of both worlds .. Human nature is such that it would always create a 3rd one ..

At the end of the day .. Life is nothing but a journey and we the travelers... seeking a destination which has no known constant bearing with time .......and never will till the end of our time..

This is your life now ... Make the best of it ...

Respect..

"Respect" Ah well that word has really amused me a lot since i got a hold of my life ...

Its a given in most cases... With respecting an individual for who he or she maybe ... or an individual no matter how high or low maybe in standings set by society ..

The funny thing is very few earn it ... But yet all of us demand it..

Why ?

Well i have no clue ...

I have seen that word... Displace People in Love .. Distance Family & Friends ...or Simply complicate peoples life's beyond redemption...

Only if we as individuals realized .. Respect Only matters if one respects his or herself ... Some Respect may or may not be given to you by society and the people around you .. and rest you earn with time for your deeds ...

Even if one didn't earn any or was not conferred upon by society ... How does it matter anyways ?

Keep it simple and the rest will fall into place ...

Knowing the Unknown ...

A few days back while having a conversation with a friend. She gave me a brilliant idea to write about...

Its something i have followed over the years and in most cases it helps me read individuals ... You can never know the whole truth.. but one can get an idea of whats coming your way ..

I am not sure how many believe in positive and negative vibes... Its as obvious as a bad or good oder if one chooses to keep his or her senses on high alert.. It can be a tiering affair to keep ones senses active all the time... But then if you want to get to know someone ... It takes an effort...

An Individual expresses in many ways .. The Most obvious ones are Words (Speech) and Actions

But then there are also passive expressions ... Body Language, Eyes and Facial Expressions

Having the gift of gab is a great asset for most.. but then no one is perfect. Sometimes a pair of keen eyes gets the better of the words... Sometimes the Words get the better of Glittering Eyes.. Sometimes the Glittering Eyes Get the better of a heart in love ...

A Rule of the thumb.. Which generally portrays an arrogant and snobbish image of myself. I take a few months sometimes maybe even a year before i form an opinion about anyone... Getting to know someone takes considerable amount of effort sometimes.. i may never form an opinion too at times.. Why ?

Well some mysteries are best left unsolved and some questions are best let unanswered, in other words... reward is not worth the effort :) ...

When you observe someone during multiple encounters... Their Words may flow .. but maybe the eyes or the body language would give in ... Words May Point up north but actions may point down south ...

A Classic Situation "The worlds most commonly spoken lie "i love you"... North South Theory Ring a bell ? :)

The more you talk to an individual and the more you don't pull them up at points when he or she is pulling a fast one on you.. The more they let their guard down ... Making the task of getting to know them a walk in the park..

Sure its stupid to let people pull a fast one on you ... So long as it doesn't hurt or kill you. It only saves you valuable time and energy ...

Its Human nature to take people for granted ... Sometimes being dumb .. is being smart

Two P's

The Past Two weeks have been rough ... Been pushing my lucky a little too much..
End up drinking with someone or the other. Sticking to my limits though..

A few days back i was on my way to meet up a friend. Got a call from i guy i had not
seen in the past 2 weeks. Heard his mom was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks back...
And she was in her final stages..

I stalled my plans for the night thought i'd spend some time with him.. I lost someone in my family a few months
back to cancer and have seen what kinda trauma one may go thru .. before finally giving in ..

As our conversations went on after a few drinks.. i could see him vent his frustration about his mom..
They seemed to have discharged her for a few days from the hospital and she ended up doing the household chores
as soon as she got back ... Well knowing quite a few super women in my life including one in my house ...i know how though it can be to reason with them... so i guess his frustration was justified

Its cause one cares and loves.. .. he or she would give into expressing anger when their advise or suggestion is not taken seriously by a loved one in vain ... i have been in that spot tons of times... it was ok for me to give into anger in some situations .. while some situations i wished i could have shown some level of patience. i am not going to get into details here...

Wishes will always be wishes :)

He happened to speak to me about situation where he lost his cool and started screaming at his mom to go relax and not to be difficult...i could see a myst in his eyes... let him vent uninterrupted

Once he was done i wanted to get my point across to him...

Me : When you were 8 yrs old and say you failed a subject in school.. Didn't your mom scream at you ?
Him : Yes
Me: And when you were sick Did she sit by all night around you.. ignoring anything and everything you ever did or were doing wrong ?
Him: Yes
Him: I don't get your point
Me: i'll get my point across to you .. Just give me a minute to explain my thoughts here

Me: When one is a kid.. Parents are pretty much your guardian angles till you come of age.. They love , care , feed and guide you for the better part of your life ... Considering an obvious fact that children can be molded more easily then grown ups.. Their (Parents) effect on you tends to fade away with time .. your surroundings, experiences and perspective takes over .. Finally you reach a stage where your the man you made yourself to be. With some pointers by your folks .. do you agree with me ?

Him: Yes

Me: While all this was happening .. Your Parents were going older ?

Him: Yes

Me: Your parents are already the individuals they have made themselves to be... No matter how you want things to be. You still can only use words. And the best way to use your words is with love and patience... Considering that they are way past that stage of adapting to changes. its you who needs to be wise and adapt to them....Sure i understand that she is doing something wrong ..But when you were 8 didn't she sit by you all night ignoring anything you ever did wrong... And i'd lay a bet she would still do the same when your 25...

My observation over the years and i am pretty convinced about it.. from personal experience

When one is young infant.. He or she is pretty much dependent upon their parents .. But as time passes by one becomes self sufficient .. However a shift happens :)

A child once taken care by a guardian... is now taking care of the guardian who is a child....The older people get ... the more rigid and childish they do get at times. Standing by them like they stood besides you is the only thing one needs to do...

Cause one day a shift will happen again....

Patience is a virtue... We learn to pickup over time. However its worthless if not used in situations with people who mean the most to us...

Honesty n Self Deception..

"Honesty" a word which is quite often used in the English vocabulary.

"As Wikipedia States"

Its the human quality of communicating and acting truthfully related to truth as a value. This includes listening, and any action in the human repertoire — as well as speaking.

Superficially, honesty means simply stating facts and views as best one truly believes them to be. It includes both honesty to others, and to oneself and about one's own motives and inner reality.

Although a rare quality seen in individuals these days. But yet exists in small pockets..

Has the world lost its bearing ? Well i don't know. The more i see .. The more it seems to convince me humanity is nearing the end of its time.. Let me not loose my bearing now ;)

When i think of "Honesty" Two words seem to hit me "Self Deception".

An instinct for self deception can give a person a selective advantage... if someone can believe their own "lie" (i.e., their presentation that is biased toward their own self interest), the theory goes, they will consequently be better able to persuade others of its "truth."

It may also be argued that the ability to deceive, or self-deceive, is not the selected trait but a by-product of a more primary trait that is selected. Abstract thinking allows many evolutionary advantages such as more flexible, adaptive behaviors and innovation. Since a lie is an abstraction, the mental process of creating a lie can only occur in animals with enough brain complexity to permit abstract thinking.

No i did not conceive that theory.. However its one i have a great deal of respect for....

99.9 percent of people like to call themselves honest ..

But what i fail to understand .... how is one honest when he or she is in self denial ?

Honesty to maintain as a constant on an individuals personality.. is a near impossiblity

Honesty starts with the end of self deception .. It doesn't matter if your honest to a dishonest world

But it does matter if your honest to yourself ...

Second Chances

Every once in a while i seem to get into a conversation with someone or the other regarding someone screwing them over .. in their personal or professional lives... And often i hear this " Once trust is broken.. it can never be repaired" Well in most cases of professional arrangements i would agree to it....

Personal ... Well not always the case

If you look all around you.. You find people .. People who are different in their own unique way. No two people you know would be 100 % alike. May agree or gel with you, But yet they maintain their individuality..

Individuality so complex and diverse ..i don't know a single person who has it all figured out till date.

Complications of individual personalities is something which i do not wish to explore at the moment its a rather complex subject to discuss with a never ending search to a conclusion..

Human Race ever since it inhabited this earth.... thru countless generations have taken tiny steps towards discovery of everything that stands around us today... and will keep taking those steps till the end of our time

Proving the the obvious fact... Man is a thinking animal ...well at least some of us still are :)

People make mistakes.. Thats how they learn.. Thats how they discover themselves...and everything around them
Thats how they come to terms with their personality and life

And if the obvious fact of "Man being a thinking animal" is true .. Then people who make mistakes learn from their mistakes to make smarter choices in life ahead..

Life as the years pass by has a funny way to teaching people ... thru direct or indirect situations or thru reactions to actions and words of an individual... Some learn.. Some never stop chasing their own tail...and well some just never realize to learn.

Personal Experience 8 out of 10 people who one may give a second chance to will screw you over at some point or the other.... So the odds are high.

But yet there is a faint chance... Someone may learn from their mistakes .. Would you give them a chance ?

I know i would .. a word of caution if you have the patience and the heart for second chances ..

Personal Perception..

An Interesting email i came across

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be
another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the
way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on
the donkey? "Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the
donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and
commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride
on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife
quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can
the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.
Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you
hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing
that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey
and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the
donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell
into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will
everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never
will be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if your conscience is clear..
